Buggerthebooboisie is dedicated to the memory and spirit of H.L. Mencken (above) who coined "booboisie," loosely defined as the middle class of the gullible masses. Mencken's observations and commentaries have withstood the test of time -- with appalling modern relevance. I invite all commentary that debunks the prevailing nonsense in America's political and social dialogue. As a newspaperman I also invite the reminiscences of others who recall the happier days of the trade.
Hello, Mr. Price, Sir! As always, it's good to see your posts. And I am delighted to tell you that I just finished "Absolute Monarchs" and it was a thoroughly entertaining and informative book. I've been reading a lot of Byzantine history lately, and this was a nice view from the other side of the empire, so to speak. Who knew how many popes were murdered in the 9th & 10th centuries?! (Just about all of them, it seems.) I hope you're well and happy these days, and look forward to having a good stiff drink with you ere long.
